The Astro Bot reviews are in just in time for its launch tomorrow, and they are glowing. Critics across the board praise its "vibrant levels" and "clever nods to PlayStation classics", as it holds the highest possible badge on OpenCritic of Mighty, along with an average score of 93 as all critics so far recommend it.
In our five star review at TheGamer, Editor-in-Chief Stacey Henley argues that it might even surpass Super Mario Odyssey as a "contender for the all-time crown in a genre that has felt a little neglected in recent years". While the allure for many might be the myriad cameos, Stacey writes that it's "much more than a history lesson".
It's hard to feel excited by all these cameos when they represent long dead and abandoned series.
Game Rant likewise gave Astro Bot a full five star score, describing it as "pure joy in video game form", while also arguing that it's the "best 3D platformer since Super Mario Odyssey", something that VGC also echoed in its five star review.
