Dragon Age: The Veilguard Might Give Us Our First Non-Binary Companion

Dragon Age fans think that Taash, a new character introduced in The Veilguard, might be non-binary. This comes after promotional material for the game has repeatedly referred to them using they/them pronouns, including yesterday's breakdown of all of The Veilguard's companions.

This would make Taash the first non-binary character in the series, as well as the first known trans companion. This could also tie into Taash's story arc, as we've been told that this will centre around them trying to find where they belong in the world, focussing heavily on introspection and becoming "at peace" with who they are.

While this hasn't been confirmed, many fans picked up on the fact that The Veilguard's director, Corinne Busche, referred to Taash with they/them pronouns in the character breakdown shared by IGN yesterday. This is not the first time fans have suspected this, having previously pointed out that BioWare seems to avoid using any pronouns for Taash.
