Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida confirmed in a recent interview that the Final Fantasy 9 collaboration has nothing to do with the rumoured FF9 remake.
As the biggest RPG series in the world of gaming (sorry Baldur's Gate 3), it shouldn't come as a surprise that there are a lot of Final Fantasy projects rumoured to be in the works at Square Enix. Without a doubt, the most prominent rumour over the past few years has been regarding a potential remake of Final Fantasy 9, something that was first spotted in an infamous Nvidia leak.
We spoke with FFXIV's Yoshi-P at Gamescom about Living Memory, whether digital life is really living, and hints about the future.
Although most of the Square Enix games listed in the Nvidia leak have all been confirmed over the past few years, the same sadly can't be said of the Final Fantasy 9 remake, which is still just a rumour to this day. We've heard lots about it from insiders and leakers that seem to suggest it's still in the works, but it seems like one prominent Final Fantasy creator doesn't have anything to do with it.
