Ex-Days Gone Creative Director, John Garvin, went on a tirade on X against Bend Studios for allowing the game's protagonist, Deacon St. John, to be in an Astro Bot promotion.
Astro Bot, Sony's latest platformer developed by TeamAsobi, features an array of iconic PlayStationcharacters; Deacon is but one among the likes of God of War's Kratos and Uncharted's Nathan Drake, among many others.
Garvin's X post replied to Bend Studio's congratulating TeamAsobi on Astro Bot's release. His comments were only about the Days Gone protagonist's use in promotional material, not about his inclusion in the game— although he could simply be unaware of that.
The ex-creative director then discussed his comments with multiple X users, who thought they were "salty" and "uncalled for."
Many pointed out that Deacon's inclusion is merely an homage to Days Gone, as it was the PS4's 13th best-selling game. Many fans of the zombie game tagged Sony under Bend Studio's post, asking for a sequel.
These positive replies were lost on Garvin, who ended his keyboard battle with "I’m busy creating more stuff" and 'I’m done giving you air."
