FromSoftware games have always had an inventive hacking scene. You have the standard cheaters who use tools to win PvP fights, but you also have the more creative bunch who use cheats to ruin people's games in their entirety.

A common problem still plaguing Dark Souls is hackers invading and dropping items to appear friendly, like copious amounts of souls or maxed out weapons, and then leaving. But these are hacked items usually spawned in with Cheat Engine that then flag you as the cheater and get you banned.

This compelling theory suggests that the Erdtree was once growing in the gaping hole by the Shaman Village.

Appealing and getting the ban overturned can be a nightmare — I'm still barred from playing Dark Souls Remastered online — but Elden Ring fans are starting a new trend of ruining your save file instead.

As pointed out by Reddit user SpiderKnife, they do this by invading you and then instantly killing endgame bosses in areas you haven't visited yet, giving you their Rememberances far in advance.

For one, you don't get a chance to fight the boss yourself, diminishing the payoff of your adventure in the Lands Between, but it can also end...
