The release and subsequent immediate shuttering of the hero shooter Concord is in many ways, unprecedented, especially for a massive publisher like Sony. It would appear that Sony is continuing to take unprecedented steps as Concord is now being manually removed from people's PlayStations.
If you had purchased and downloaded the digital version of Concord before the game's closure, you may be greeted with a home screen notification with the heading 'Concord' the next time you open your PlayStation 5. "Thank you for being a valued PlayStation customer. Live services for Concord went offline [September 6]. The game is not playable and as a result, we have removed this content from your account," the notification reads.
While the servers shutting down means players wouldn't have been able to access Concord anyway, the complete removal of the game from people's consoles isn't something that's happened with other live-service shutdowns. We tested the physical edition of Concord and though you're able to boot the game, you're not allowed to progress past the title screen. This is more in line with what normally happens after a live-service game ceases being supported. The reason why Sony has decided to take this step is unknown....
