Following the September 17 Rockstar Games launcher update on PC, a source claimed that metadata for Red Dead Redemption was included in the update before being quickly patched out. While Red Dead Redemption is readily available on modern consoles, an official PC version has not been released by Rockstar Games.

Originally released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption is a spiritual successor to 2004's Red Dead Revolver. Set in 1911, during the decline of the American West historical era, Red Dead Redemption follows the story of former Van der Linde gang member John Marston. Using his family as collateral, the Bureau of Investigation conscripts Marston to go after three of his fellow ex-gang members, including his former mentor and friend, Dutch van der Linde. The gang's time together was further explored in the 2018 prequel Red Dead Redemption 2, which is widely considered to have some of the best graphics in PC gaming.
