We've seen the effects that weapons nerfs can have on a title. Helldivers 2 is the most high-profile example, with the developers weakening weapons to the point that players have review-bombed the game and left in their droves.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which operates in a similar space within the gaming landscape to Helldivers 2, is potentially going to face similar nerfs, and fans are worried.
In its first public Q&A since Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launched, Focus Home Interactive hinted that a variety of nerfs could be coming to the game.
Of the 'Blocking weapon trait' being too powerful in PvE, the team said, "We'll definitely make changes in a future patch." Regarding the Melta Gun, Focus HOME Interactive said, "We have noticed a bug where the Melta allows the user to heal above the contested health, we aim to fix this in the next patch."
In PVP, the developers also confirmed they're considering changes to weapons "such as melee balancing, shock grenades, bulwark & heavy being too present in capture game modes," but they did admit they "don't want to make rash decisions before seeing the global picture."
