Yesterday, the ESRB rating board revealed that PlayStation has a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster in the works, but reputable insider Jeff Grubb claims that it doesn't end there. He alleges that another "even less exciting" remaster is in development, and I'm sorry Bloodborne fans, but we're not going back to Yharnam.
With FromSoftware and Japan Studio's beloved soulslike RPG turning ten next year, fans are more eager than ever for a remaster, or even just a 60fps update. However, Sony has remained radio silent, and we're instead seeing far more recent games get that treatment.
There's some other remaster in the works that will be even less exciting, I've heard, and that's definitely not Bloodborne.
Horizon Zero Dawn launched just seven years ago, which sets a strange precedent for the future of PlayStation's remasters. Games that are backwards compatible, modern, and already have current-gen updates are fair game, which means that we could see the similarly recent God of War (2018) or even Day's Gone remastered next, all the while Sony's extensive history is either ported to PS Plus' classics catalogue or left to gather dust.
