Remember that feeling of dread two years ago when you opened an otherwise ordinary-looking chest in the first zone of Elden Ring, only to be hurled into a nightmarish hellscape riddled with an even worse version of poison? Caelid is to this day the most notorious zone in the game, the seat of Starscourge Radahn's power, but if you thought you could escape it by shifting gears to Baldur's Gate 3, think again.
Modders have used the unlocked toolkit to design their own take on Avernus, the hells which Karlach returns to at the end of the game, and they used Caelid as inspiration. It is the netherworld of the Lands Between, so it's a great place to draw from.
It's A LOT harder than you think.
The mod is a work-in-progress, but already it feels unsettlingly familiar. We can see Astarion exploring a wasteland littered with dead trees, rancid red rivers, and enormous mushrooms. Luckily, there's no Scarlet Rot, but give it time. I'm sure modders will find a way.
