The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a first for the series already. It will be the first time in a mainline Zelda game that we're predominately playing as the princess herself, going on an adventure to save Link. So, it's very fitting that this is also the first mainline Zelda entry to be led by a woman, with Tomomi Sano stepping up as the game's director.
Nintendo just confirmed that Sano is the first female Zelda director in an interview with the game's leads. She's handling coordination between developer Grezzo and Nintendo, ensuring that this unique Zelda game still captures the spirit of the series.
Sano has had a long career with Nintendo, joining the company in 2003. In that time, she's worked as a coordinator, assistant producer, and assistant director on titles such as Mario Party 6, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and many more.
