Sony has announced Ghost of Yōtei, a followup to 2020's Ghost of Tsushima that takes place more than 300 years after the original game. It's due to arrive for PS5 in 2025.
Revealed during yesterday's PlayStation Showcase, Ghost of Yōtei tells the story of Atsu, a warrior who must contend with the "sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers" of 1600s Hokkaido, which was then known as Ezo.
In the debut trailer for Ghost of Yōtei, we learn that Atsu is hunting someone in the Ezo region, and in the environs of Mount Yōtei specifically. However, an unsavory figure then tells an offscreen Atsu that she's also being hunted by "every ronin" in the region, at which point Atsu kills him. Only fair, I suppose.
We then get to see a montage of shots and scenes from the game, all of which look exactly as breathtakingly impressive as you'd expect from the folks who brought you Ghost of Tsushima.
