Pocketpair has surprise-launched creature-collecting survival game Palworld on PS5, although if you're in Japan, then you're sadly out of luck on that front, possibly due to what's happening with regards to Nintendo.
Palworld's PS5 launch was announced during yesterday's PlayStation State of Play show, where we also got reveals like the Monster Hunter Wilds release date and the existence of a followup to Ghost of Tsushima, among other things.
Given that Palworld developer Pocketpair teamed up with Sony to expand the game beyond the world of video games back in July, Palworld's PS5 release probably shouldn't come as too much of a shock, but it's a pleasant surprise for PS5 players nonetheless.
Unfortunately, it gets a bit more complicated if you're looking to play Palworld on PS5 in Japan. According to the official Japanese Palworld X (formerly Twitter) account, the game's Japanese PS5 release date hasn't been decided yet.
Of course, Pocketpair doesn't specifically name the patent infringement lawsuit it was recently served by Nintendo, but it's not hard to read between the lines and guess that's the reason for the game's no-show in Japan on PS5.
