Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon is once again testing the waters to see if fans would like Mortal Kombat: Deception’s Konquest Mode return in a future game. Mortal Kombat: Deception was the sixth mainline entry in the iconic Mortal Kombat series, released on sixth-generation consoles in late 2004. Picking up where Deadly Alliance left off, Deception saw the fighters of previous Mortal Kombat games face off against a new threat to the realms: the Dragon King Onaga.

One area where Mortal Kombat: Deception stood out from what came before was its updated Konquest Mode, a single-player RPG-like mode that was originally introduced in Deadly Alliance. While that entry’s version was basically a training mode that allowed players to complete missions as existing Mortal Kombat characters, Deception expanded Konquest into a full-fledged storyline featuring a new protagonist named Shujinko - who would later return as a Kameo fighter in Mortal Kombat 1. Players could follow Shujinko as he journeyed to gather the mystical Kamidogu weapons, complete sidequests, and unlock bonus features for the rest of Mortal Kombat: Deception’s game modes.
