Wikipedia has locked down the Silent Hill 2 remake's page in order to stop trolls from editing the review section to make it look like the game is performing much worse than it actually is.
As reported by Eurogamer, the page was repeatedly vandalized over the weekend by editors whose motives are unclear, although some are speculating that the page has become yet another theater in the tiresome culture war surrounding "wokeness", as arguably meaningless as that word has become.
Whatever the goal of the editors in question, however, the Silent Hill 2 Wikipedia page was being edited to change the review scores of publications like Eurogamer itself, as well as IGN, Digital Trends, and others, to laughably low scores.
A quick glance at the reception section of the Wikipedia page as it currently stands shows that Silent Hill 2 is getting some pretty solid reviews; there are lots of four-star and five-star reviews, so it's clear the game is resonating with critics.
What's more, the OpenCritic and Metacritic pages for the game show high scores across the board, so I'm not sure what the aforementioned Wikipedia editors think they were achieving here. It's not like it's hard...
