Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has delighted fans of RGG Studio's beloved series as they once again get to play as fan-favourite character Goro Majima. Majima has been entertaining fans since his first appearance in the original Yakuza, and now we finally have a game wholly dedicated to the Mad Dog of Shimano.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a spin-off title that sees an amnesiac Majima wash up on an island near Hawaii. As these things tend to go, Majima then becomes the captain of a pirate crew and becomes embroiled in a conflict with other pirates and of course, ex-yakuza from Japan.
In an interview with PlayStation Blog, RGG Studio director and Like a Dragon executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama touched on their decision to give Majima amnesia before the events of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. According to Yokoyama, Majima is someone who masks his true feelings in order to live up to the image other people have of him. By taking away Majima's sense of self, we can see who the real Majima is behind the persona he's built up.
