While sports games are usually replaced by publishers with the latest iteration like clockwork every year, it's not fair to assume that gamers snap up every year's entry as well. For those still playing NBA 2K23 on consoles and PC, Visual Concepts has confirmed that the basketball sim's servers are going offline and the move is happening soon.

In an announcement on the 2K Support board, 2K mentioned that the NBA 2K23 servers will "sunset" (a term used when a game is about to wind down its services) on December 31, 2024. This means the sports game's online component will be inaccessible in less than 24 months! NBA 2K23 will also be removed from storefronts and unavailable for purchase from November 30, 2024.

With the game's servers shutting down in December, players will not be able to play online games.
