Over the past year or two, the quality of the video game to TV/movie adaptation pipeline has increased greatly. Shows like The Last of Us and Fallout bucked the historical trend of these adaptations being bad, with both being nominated for dozens of industry awards, and movies like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Sonic the Hedgehog have been box office hits.

Capcom is aware of the reception to Frank's older look in Deluxe Remaster.

It's this renaissance that led me to ask the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster team at Tokyo Game Show whether they would consider making a new adaptation of the once-dormant series.

Historically, the Dead Rising series has been no stranger to movie adaptations. Between 2010 and 2016, three movies were released: Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun, Dead Rising: Watchtower, and Dead Rising: Endgame. Each of these movies was panned, with Dead Rising: Watchtower receiving the highest Rotten Tomatoes score - 32.
