GTA Online's New Zombies Mode Brought 1 Million Players Back To GTA 5

GTA Online added a temporary 'spooktastic' game mode for the Halloween season, bringing Online players to North Yankton for the first time ever to fight off hordes of the undead. The area from Grand Theft Auto 5's prologue (and a later mission) was previously inaccessible in Online without employing a series of glitches.

Ludendorff Cemetery Survival has proved a massive hit for the live-service title, with the game mode attracting 1.2 million unique players in the few days since its release according to GTA Online Stats (thanks, PCGamer). As noted by X user Tez2, Ludendorff Cemetery Survival has been 260 per cent more successful than Assault on ATT-16, a mode released in August.

Ludendorff Cemetery Survival is reminiscent of a multiplayer horde shooter, as it includes never-ending waves of zombies and power-ups. You can team up with others or try your hand alone, but the latter is predictably more difficult as every undead in the cemetery is hunting you and only you relentlessly. By all accounts, this game mode isn't a cakewalk, and you'll need clever strategy and intelligent resource management to succeed.
