Fatal Fury Producer Thinks A Series Anime Would Be “Wild”

Over the last few years, a spate of high-quality anime based on video games have been released. The rise of streaming services like Netflix has seen adaptations based on Cyberpunk, Nier: Automata, Castlevania, and Dragons Dogma, among others.

Playing Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves for a preview was a throwback to the golden age of fighting games.

Speaking to TheGamer at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, SNK veteran and Fatal Fury producer Yasuyuki Oda shared his thoughts on whether the long-running fighting series could be adapted.

I asked Oda-san whether the SNK team had considered any transmedia adaptations for Fatal Fury, given the series' return after a 26-year hiatus and the recent changes in sentiment on video game adaptations. He gleefully responded, "It’d be really cool if we had a Fatal Fury anime." However, the thought didn't come without some concerns.

"It just depends on who you get to do it, the style, how to do it properly, you know. But yeah, it'd be wild, right? It'd be really cool,” he added.
