Chloe might not be an active part of Life is Strange: Double Exposure's story, but the player can still determine what kind of effect she had on Max's life prior to her time at Caledon University.

From the moment it was revealed that the next Life is Strange game from Deck Nine would be bringing back Max Caufield, everyone had the exact same question - how the heck will that work with the original game's wildly different endings? Not only would the new game need to canonise Arcadia Bay's fate, but it'd also need to decide what happened to Chloe and explain where she is now.

Max Caulfield is back in a new time-shifting adventure.

Deck Nine quickly made it clear that Chloe wasn't going to be a part of Double Exposure's story, but that just raised more questions about the game's canon, which ending it goes for, and, most importantly, Chloe and Max's relationship. As it turns out, though, the latest Life is Strange game respects both endings and actually lets you pick what happened.
