Netflix has reportedly closed down one of its internal development studios, known as "Team Blue", with several of the high-profile staff associated with said studio no longer working at the company.
According to Game File's Stephen Totilo, Team Blue, which boasted the involvement of the likes of ex-Overwatch producer Chacko Sonny and former Halo creative lead Joseph Staten, has been shut down.
Staten first joined Netflix's Team Blue back in April last year, announcing that he was serving as creative director on "a brand-new AAA multiplatform and original IP". Sadly, it looks like that project won't be coming to fruition now.
Given that Netflix hasn't made any kind of official announcement regarding the closure of Team Blue (which technically doesn't even have an official name), we don't know why the studio was disbanded, assuming that Totilo's report is correct.
However, Netflix isn't the only tech giant to be shutting down game studios or reworking projects. Amazon, for instance, laid off over 180 employees across its gaming division in late 2023, and the company's gaming segment is apparently still trying to find the "hook" for its upcoming Lord of the Rings MMO.
