Even though the Steam Deck OLED was released just about a year ago, people are already clamoring for whatever follow-up Valve has in the works. In classic Valve fashion, the company’s mentality is to only update the system when the time is right.

Forgoing the traditional hardware update that many other handheld PC companies undergo is a unique decision, but it's not one we’re surprised Valve has chosen to make.

So, despite PC handheld competitors now outperforming the Steam Deck in almost every way, Valve maintains that it's still not time for a hardware upgrade.

In their interview with reviews.org earlier this month, Valve discussed precisely why they’re okay forgoing these more streamlined upgrades. This led us to understand how and why the probable Steam Deck 2 has all the means to blow the competition out of the water.
