One of 2024's most pleasant surprises was the reveal that The Thing would be getting remastered for modern consoles. The 2002 survival horror game based on the movie of the same name was an absolute cult classic when it was released. Not only was it a solid video game experience, but the game was actually a sequel to the movie, making it more than just some licensed IP cash grab, like Enter The Matrix.
The remaster was originally unveiled several months ago, and the game will launch across all platforms, including PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox. It's being handled by Nightdive Studios, which has immense experience in bringing classics to the modern age, and the team is committed to fulfilling the developers' "original vision."
In the leadup to its 2024 window, a new gameplay trailer has premiered, giving fans a first-hand look at just how much the game has been upgraded. For one, the graphics look nominally better, while still retaining that 2000s flair. And the gameplay looks just like it did back then, with some added enhancements built in.
