October 23 is Fallout Day, commemorating the Great War in 2077.
To mark the occasion, Bethesda put on a big celebration broadcast introducing major features to Fallout 76, including the ability to live out the new American dream embodied by Cooper Howard in the HBO Fallout series.
The big content update is slated to drop early next year.

The biggest item on the list is the ability to play as a ghoul for the first time in the 27 years of the Fallout franchise.
This change adds more than just a pretty face and turns the Fallout 76survival gameplay on its head.
Playing as a ghoul lets you enjoy the beauty of glowing America without worrying about poisoning, food, or water. These advantages are not free, however.
Besides the atomic tan, being a ghoul means having a strong dependence on chemicals to prevent you from going feral (then again, if you do, that's someone else's problem), and can severely limit your travel and trading options.
Certain factions, like the lovely friendly chaps at the Brotherhood of Steel, shoot ghouls on sight, which can be more than an inconvenience considering how much firepower they pack.
