Back in May 2023, Bungie announced that the studio is developing another game outside of the Destiny 2 franchise, and it was none other than the studio's dormant IP, Marathon. Since the announcement, the studio has refrained from sharing more info about it, but that changes today.
In a new Developer Update, Bungie talks about the in-development extraction shooter, as game director Joe Ziegler shares some new gameplay info, and we even get to see two new Runner types shown.
Bungie Gives An Update on Marathon After Over A Year Of Silence
In the video, Ziegler mentions how Marathon is a "re-engagement" of the idea of an extraction shooter. There are two Runner classes shown (images not gameplay), and they have the working codenames of "Thief" and "Stealth." While Bungie refrained from going into anything too specific, the studio did mention how these Runners are character platforms that players will utilize in each "Run." While the video is over nine-minutes long, it really doesn't divulge anything much other than to remind us that hey, Marathon still exists.
