Sony Reportedly Spent More Than $200 Million On Concord's Development

The initial deal that Sony made for Firewalk Studios to develop Concord was reportedly "just over" $200 million. That figure was apparently exceeded throughout development and does not cover marketing costs.

This is according to two sources speaking with Kotaku and comes just as Sony reveals that it is shutting Firewalk Studios down. This means that Concord will not be returning, as was initially suggested, cementing the live service as a costly failure for the company.

As further noted by Kotaku, this alleged figure wouldn't have covered the costs of Sony acquiring developer Firewalk and the Concord IP. With this in mind, it's unclear what the total cost of Concord's lengthy and ill-fated production would have been, but in any case, we now know that it won't get the chance to recoup its losses.

Concord launched a little over two months ago on August 23. The game was taken offline after two weeks on September 6 after it failed to find a significant playerbase.

All it takes is a notification to take games we own away from us.
