Tales of Kenzera: Zau’s Surgent Studios has revealed new gameplay footage from its next title codenamed Project Uso, after the game was announced recently. Described as an “afro-gothic RPG,” Project Uso is said to be inspired by games like Planescape: Torment, and while existing in the Tales of Kenzera: Zau universe, the single-player, isometric successor will be “darker, more visceral, and gritty.”
The studio has developed a fully functional prototype of Project Uso, and the artwork will follow a stylized palette instead of photorealism. While Surgent Studios seeks a partner to publish its second title, Tales of Kenzera: Zau joins some of the best Metroidvania games out there and was a standout title in the 2024 release slate. Going by footage from the studio’s next project, it looks like the team has another hit on their hands.
The best part of the Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is the story, so it well worth diving deep into playing everything the game offers.
