As part of a random Halloween trailer, THQ Nordic has confirmed that it's releasing a brand-new SpongeBob SquarePants game at some point in 2025.
When I think of Halloween, I don't usually think of everyone's favourite happy cartoon sponge, but I guess that must just be me. Earlier today, THQ Nordic released a "Halloween Gaming" trailer focused on SpongeBob SquarePants and showing some of his more spooky outings from The Cosmic Shake and Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated.

Timely seasonal trailers are nothing new in the world of video games, but this one had a very surprising treat in store for fans. Towards the end of the trailer, THQ Nordic randomly confirmed out of nowhere that they're developing an "all-new" SpongeBob SquarePants game that seemingly has something to do with ghosts.
As the trailer ends, SpongeBob and Patrick can be seen in front of a green glowing background while the Flying Dutchman laughs at them. While the two stand around celebrating, they each turn into ghosts, suggesting that the new game will focus on the Flying Dutchman in some capacity. It could also just be for the Halloween theme, but...
