Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the first sequel in the series not to carry over all of our characters from the previous games or most of their decisions. The only one who makes the cut is our Inquisitor, who we recreate in The Veilguard's character creator, as well as input three of the decisions they made in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

While this rules out cameos and most references to the Hero of Ferelden and Hawke - protagonists of Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 respectively - BioWare has still managed to sneak one in for the Warden. Better yet, it works regardless of who they were or what happened to them, so it shouldn't feel like your canon is being overwritten.

As spotted by our Editor-in-Chief Stacey Henley, you can find a Joining chalice in Weisshaupt. If you interact with it, you find out that it was "recovered from Ostagar, Ferelden", making it the exact same chalice which the Hero of Ferelden used to become a Grey Warden.
