While the Persona series might not have the same panache as Square Enix's Final Fantasy franchise, it's hard to argue that when it comes to RPGs, it's still one of the most recognizable, which usually means each Persona game release is met with a warm reception that, more often than not, translates to game sales.
As part of SEGA's Annual Integrated Report for 2024 (via Persona Central), the company has announced that the Persona franchise has sold 23.5 million copies worldwide (the sales number accounts for both physical and digital sales).
The Recent Persona Game Releases Have Been Selling Well
According to SEGA, Persona's sales growth can be attributed to multi-platform, simultaneous worldwide releases, which are further bolstered by remastered and spin-off titles.
Before the 23.5-million mark was achieved, the series had 22.6 million copies sold as of March 5, 2024. While the series is known for pushing out spin-offs, the big meal ticket here is Persona 5, as this series alone (including Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, and Persona 5 Tactica) has already sold over 10 million units accumulatively.
