Pokemon Go players who received undeserved bans during the initial Gigantamax Raids are being reimbursed by Niantic for the suspension with free in-game currency.
In 2024, Pokemon Go added Dynamax and Gigantamax content for the first time. These mechanics from Pokemon Sword & Shield allow regular ‘Mons to temporarily transform into giants, greatly increasing their power.
The huge scale of the Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics meant that Niantic had to approach their inclusion into Pokemon Go in a whole new way, via special in-person Raids.
Unfortunately, glitches in the system led to wrongful bans, which are now being rolled back.
As reported by users on the Pokemon Go Reddit, Niantic has sent out emails apologizing for the bans. The accounts have been restored, and all strikes have been removed, with a 500 PokeCoins bonus given as a 'thank you.'
