But now, courtesy of Sony's latest Q2 financial report, we know that the game has also been a smash hit for consumers. Team Asobi's first full-length Astro-centric adventure has platformed its way to 1.5 million units sold as of November 3, 2024, nearly three months since its initial launch.

That 1.5 million unit figure has Astro Bot outpacing the likes of Returnal and Ratchet and Clank, both well-received titles. However, there is another metric that should excite fans when it comes to Astro Bot's future prospects.
Of the 1.5 million units sold, 37%, or nearly 600,000 units were sold to new users. Sony has defined a new user as someone who hasn't purchased a piece of first-party software in the last two years other than Astro Bot.
