For as long as the series has existed, Call of Duty's big updates have typically dropped at 9 am PT/5 pm GMT, so naturally, with Black Ops 6's first season due out today, fans expected the same.

That's been thrown out of the window, however, as Activision has surprise dropped Black Ops 6 Season 1 three hours early.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Season 1 update was incredibly well received, at least in the days leading up to launch. Yes, it nerfed one of the most popular, most overpowered weapons, but the wealth of content added by Activision went down a treat with the game's audience, which has already seen massive growth year-on-year.
Season 1, which includes six new maps, two new modes, seven weapons, two perks, a scorestreak, and a wildcard, was scheduled to go live at Activision's usual time, but, whether by mistake or deliberately, is live now. The fact that the official Call of Duty Twitter Account has yet to share the news makes it seem like the former, although it could be a way to slowly integrate players to lighten the server load.
