Despite previously claiming that it wasn't working on anything to do with Elden Ring, FromSoft surprised us all at The Game Awards when it announced Elden Ring Nightreign, a standalone roguelike take on the base game that lets you team up with two other friends and go up against a host of deadly, and very familiar, enemies.

Beyond being the continuation of Elden Ring that none of us were expecting to see so soon, one of the most surprising things about Nightreign is how it brings together a bunch of features from previous FromSoft games. The trailer showed off a bunch of bosses and enemies from Dark Souls, such as the Parasite Spider and Centipede Demon, while hinting at mechanics from Sekiro like clambering up walls.
