Capcom is adding a patch into Resident Evil 2 that will make a small connection with the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake, and it will have to do with Jill.
A week ago, a secret Steam Achievement was found for Resident Evil 2. Today the achievement was officially revealed, and it is a link to the upcoming Resident Evil 3. The achievement is entitled "Chasing Jill," and states that players will need to "Read a letter left behind by Jill" in order to receive it. Resident Evil 2 has not received an update yet, so the letter is not in the game at the moment. There is no word on when to expect the update, though it will likely come before Resident Evil 3's April release.
This is not the first time that Resident Evil 3 has been referenced in its predecessor. This past April, a tweet on the official Resident Evil Twitter account tweeted an image of a broken wall found in the RCPD asking players what they think had happened. The holes look like they were blasted open by a rocket launcher, making a reference to Resident Evil 3's Nemesis as he rampaged across Raccoon City.
The remake of Resident Evil 3 was fully revealed recently, following the successful Resident Evil 2 remake. The title takes place before and after Resident Evil 2, and will follow Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliviera, who will both be playable. The title will be released on April 3rd, 2020. It will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Resident Evil 3 will be receiving the previously revealed Resident Evil Resistance as a mutliplayer mode. Originally known as Project Resistance, the mode has four players taking the role of survivors, while a fifth player controls a mastermind who is trying to prevent the others from escaping. The mode was revealed this past September, and was announced to be a part of Resident Evil 3 during the game's big announcement.
