Even though PlayStation warned us there would be no big launches from its tentpole franchises in 2024, its year will be remembered for games that were expected to be smaller hits but blew up like Astro Bot and Helldivers 2. It will also be remembered for what might be the biggest flop in its history Concord, and now that merch for the game has disappeared much like the game itself, PlayStation has come closer to scrubbing every trace of it from existence.
Concord launched over the summer and was shut down two weeks later. Not just shut down, but everyone who paid for a copy received a refund. It was evident PlayStation expected big things from its newest live service title as shortly after it was shut down, it pressed on with the line of Concord merch it had created to sell on the PlayStation Gear Store.
I still think Concord's weekly story vignettes were a cool idea.
