Developer Obsidian has announced that The Outer Worlds will be receiving story DLC sometime next year. The announcement was made on the game's forums.

"To all of those who voted for us in The Game Awards, you are all fantastic and we are so grateful for your support," Social Media Manager Shyla stated. "The reception to The Outer Worlds has been unbelievable to see, and even just being nominated means a lot. However, the journey isn't over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date... We just want to personally thank our team for doing a wonderful job and our fans for their tremendous support."

A new patch for The Outer Worlds was released recently. The patch made a number of fixes, and added a few things. The patch fixed audio cutting when scrolling on the map, as well as cases of companion quests being marked as Botched incorrectly. It also fixed the "Look Up" and "Look Down" keybinding being swapped, as well as several other things. The update added "Field of View" setting on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and a notification for when companions gain Perks from quests. There was also an increase in damage for handguns, and the addition of sorting options to the Companion and Workbench screens. You can read the full patch notes for the latest update here.

The Outer Worlds is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The title will release on the Nintendo Switch sometime next year. The game currently holds a Mighty rating from OpenCritic. The game had a presence had this year's Game Awards. The game was nominated for Best Narrative, Role-Playing Game, Best Performance - Ashley Burch, and Game of the Year.
