Marvelous have worked their magic to give us another stellar remake from the high points of the series. A Wonderful Life puts forward a charming and unique tale that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anybody who never got to experience it all the way back in 2003.
Miasma Chronicles offers a satisfying combat loop in an original universe that could have benefited from a more fleshed out narrative.
Last Epoch is a very high quality product, that is clearly the reward of many years of hard work and dedication. Despite not being at the finish line yet, this title in early access far exceeds many in its genre on multiple fronts. It’s a wonderful and full package, and it’s exciting to realize there’s more yet to come. Development is clearly active, releasing a major patch between writing this review and publishing it. I have no qualms recommending it to fans of action RPGs, you will find much to enjoy in this title. There’s no doubt in my mind i’ll keep coming back to try new classes, and new builds. And i’ll definitely get the damn squirrel helmet! So if you’re a fan of this style of game, it’s time kick some dinosaurs in the teeth whilst you journey to the ends of time itself.
With an original mix of deck-building and FPS, Friends vs Friends brings a fresh coat of paint to the PvP shooter genre and is a title with some promise if it can keep its player base engaged.
While I won’t call the System Shock remake an instant classic or on par with other recent remakes such as Resident Evil 4 or Dead Space, it is a decent effort to bring a revered sci-fi title to a new audience.
With its gorgeous looks, intriguing universe and well executed companion mechanic, Planet of Lana easily charms the player into partaking in its adventure.
Tears of the Kingdom is the natural evolution of Breath of the Wild, and builds upon the foundations laid six years ago magnificently. Featuring an open world full of life and gameplay mechanics limited only by your creativity, it is a gem I can wholeheartedly recommend.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor does a strong show of force with its satisfying combat, captivating animations and cinematic presentation.
Dredge offers a refreshing experience with an interesting mix of ambiance and gameplay.
ShowGunners is a fantastic-looking game that delivers violence and gameplay in droves. If you're looking for something none-too taxing then this could be right up your alley! Not sure yet? Try the demo first!
Case of the Golden Idol is an innovative and truly engaging detective masterpiece.
Drawing surprising parallels to Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker’s mechanics, Mr Sun’s Hatbox delivers an overall enjoyable indie experience.
Introducing interesting and original mechanics, Cassette Beasts revamps the monster collector genre with a much-needed fresh coat of paint.
Bayonetta Origins is a bold move for the larger Bayonetta series, but it's one I think really paid off. It's a slower and more methodical tale of a more timid witch finding her feet, and it's a tale magnificently told. With a free demo available on the eShop, it's a game I encourage you to check out.
Across the Valley is a basic game that can be incredibly rewarding if you're willing to put in the hard yards. Hampered by movement issues and the usual VR-related snags: Across the Valley could definitely be improved upon to provide a better experience in its idyllic little world.
Resident Evil 4 may not be as revolutionary as the original was, but it pays tribute to that game in a respectful way without losing its own identity. This is a solid remake, and an overall fantastic game, that any Resident Evil fan should be pleased to add to their library.
Set in an original yet eerily familiar universe, The Last Worker stands out with its presentation but could have benefited from a more diversified gameplay.
Despite its original experimental premise, The Forest Cathedral suffers from an unpolished execution.
An overwhelmingly positive experience. Combat is satisfying from start to finish, with a large variety of content for the player to dive into. A fun and unique take on the typical Three Kingdoms setting, with plenty of familiarities drawn from KOEI's other games. While it has its flaws, they're mostly minor and really does nothing to diminish the overall experience. Team Ninja clearly learned from their mistakes, so anyone hesitant because of Nioh has nothing to worry about here. It's time to grab a weapon and fight for the future of the Three Kingdoms.
For the most part, Octopath Traveler II plays it safe but the end result is still engaging and compelling.
