Akiba's Beat stirs too far away from the mechanics that made the first game so fun, resulting in a sequel that is merely a shell of its former self. It is a not a bad action RPG if you can ignore its connection to the past games.
Seasons After Fall is a gorgeous tale told through artistic visuals and beautifully orchestrated music. It is, simply put, an experience that deserves to be played although it comes at the expense of an oversimplified gameplay.
The Surge is a pure adrenaline fueled action RPG that doesn't take a moment to rest and keeps the player engaged throughout their journey. It is packed with a deep experience and customization system but unfortunately lacks in enemy and environment variety that stops it from reaching the height of the Dark Souls series.
Prey is a bold entry in sci-fic genre of first person shooters that takes inspiration from classics like System Shock. Despite a lackluster combat system, the game offers plenty of exciting moments with its brilliantly designed inter-connected world of Talos 1 that is a joy to explore.
NBA Playgrounds feels like an experiment to bring the arcade basketball style back into action. It might have an enjoyable gameplay system that is casual friendly but it lacks in content and gameplay modes, not to mention it is simply not fun to play against the dull A.I controlled opponents.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 aims to be the first game in the series to be developed with AAA production values, however it is clear after playing the game that despite a bigger budget, the game carries some glaring flaws and technical issues that don't make it deserving of its budget.
Little Nightmares attempts to tackle the horror aspects of being a young child in a world full of unknown creatures and succeeds with it.
The Caligula Effect is another interesting take on the high-school social aspects mixed with dungeon crawling genre, however it features a rather lackluster combat system and suffers from some technical issues that make the experience less than enjoyable overall.
Outlast 2 is a more gritty take on the survival horror genre. The game features genuinely creepy atmosphere even though it has some design issues with its gameplay that might lead to some frustrating moments, it still remains one of the most frightening game that I have played this year.
Defomers is a charming physics based arena brawler that sounds interesting on paper but its execution leaves a lot to be desired.
What Remains of Edith Finch is one of the best interactive story adventure that I have ever played. It takes the user on a thrilling ride full of mystery, twists and drama. Unfortunately the game suffers from some technical issues that might sour the overall experience.
Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is a much more focused action RPG compared to its predecessor, it starts with an adventure that goes through the main Dragon Quest lore while providing cameos from each of the main cast of characters in the Dragon Quest universe. It is aimed at the fans of the series but even if you aren't a fan, you will enjoy the multitude of characters and hack-and-slash gameplay that manages to avoid the repetitive nature of similar games in this genre.
Cosmic Star Heroine not only pays homage to some of the cult classic JRPGs of the yesteryear, it also provides a compelling experience full of memorable characters and some clever writing that is further boosted by an exemplary battle system.
The Disney Afternoon Collection is a set of old school games packed with new secrets, rewind and pause mechanics while retaining their classic charm. This collection serves the purpose of going down the memory lane and playing some cult classics games that are hard to find and play legitimately.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is a well done remake of a classic action game. It allows the player to experience the game from the perspective of both the new art direction as well as the old one, making for an interesting experience.
Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom is a solid effort to tackle the RPG genre from an independent studio. Unfortunately, it also ends up being too ambitious for its own good. As a new game from an independent studio, it is arguably an admirable job and bodes well for the future of the developer.
Yooka-Laylee is aimed at the revival of N64-era of Rare platformers and while it succeeds in delivering a similar experience, it also fails to improve on some of the archaic design of the past resulting in a game that is enjoyable but not without some frustrating design flaws. Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition is a soulless remaster but despite its lack of new content, the core of the game is still solid and despite the dated visuals, the gameplay still holds up well making for one of the most entertaining first person shooter.
Lego City Undercover is one of the best Lego games released on the current generation consoles. It is full of humor and offers a memorable local co-op experience that shouldn't be missed if you are a fan of Lego games.
The first DLC for Dead Rising 4 is a huge disappointment and offers little to no value for its asking price. Even if you are a diehard fan of the series, I would advice to skip out this DLC completely.
