As a fan of the Beat Em' Up genre, this collection strikes the proper balance with each game providing its own unique experience. There is a lack of bonus material and the online multiplayer is a little spotty, but the support for couch co-op is great.

Nintendo Switch owners can now enjoy the complete Final Fantasy XV story but at the cost of stripping the open world, scaling down the combat, visuals, and customization. If you are playing the game just for the story, it is nevertheless a solid action RPG that is decent enough as an alternative version of Final Fantasy XV. The technical issues with the performance and lack of quality control, unfortunately, makes this a letdown overall.

Black Clover: Quartet Knight features a disappointing main story campaign that is also incredibly short. The focus on multiplayer just doesn't work properly due to its terrible execution and long matchmaking times. It is a game that is purely for fans of the anime and not for others.

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut places a tremendous emphasis on your choices and offers a thrilling adventure set in a completely unjust world. When it comes to the Nintendo Switch version, there are technical issues, ranging from the load times to the frame rate, that it is not the smoothest experience out of all the platforms.

428: Shibuya Scramble takes some time to get into but once you start uncovering the mystery of its overarching plot, its unique story-telling and a well-developed cast are more than enough to recommend it for fans of Japanese visual novels.

This feels more like a tech demo that was expanded into a miniature game. The gameplay gets incredibly repetitive, so it hard to enjoy it. The only worthwhile thing to say for it is the visuals look great.

I have consistently advocated good character development and a likable cast and this is all present in Valkyria Chronicles 4. The strategic combat is more of the same but the new cast offers a refreshing change of pace that can overcome the lack of innovation in the gameplay department.

7 / 10.0 - Planet Alpha
Sep 12, 2018

Planet Alpha tickles our imagination with its tremendous beautiful visuals but fails to meet the same quality for its gameplay. It is a trippy otherworldly experience with some faults that prevent it from standing next to the other industry greats like INSIDE and Limbo.

8.5 / 10.0 - Destiny 2: Forsaken
Sep 9, 2018

Destiny 2: Forsaken succeeds in returning lost glory to Bungie's shared world shooter, with Gambit mode being the star of the expansion. The end-game looks promising, though it's uncertain how things will shape up in the future.

The lack of a functional story mode and some technical issues with the frame rate bring down an otherwise serviceable fighting game. This is not providing a substitute to King of Fighters, but it is an average fighter for those who are seeking something casual with plenty of fan service moments.

Fans of turn-based strategy games who are looking for a deep combat system should check out God Wars: The Complete Legend, however, don’t expect a lot from the story. As for those who have already finished it once, there is a lack of meaningful new content.

An ambitious attempt to create a multiplayer focused ninja game in the Naruto universe. The foundation created here is solid but the content offered is just not good enough to attract the fans who have played the classic Naruto games with their story-focused campaign.

7 / 10.0 - Punch Line
Sep 6, 2018

Fans of the anime might enjoy some of the more outrageous story moments in Punch Line, but for those looking for an interesting visual novel in the same vein as Zero Escape, this one, unfortunately, fails to hit the mark.

7.5 / 10.0 - Freedom Planet
Sep 5, 2018

This is an indie game that understands well how to properly take inspiration from the classic Sonic games, and as a result, it manages to stand out among the many clones. The impact of Freedom Planet is far less now, but it has the potential to carve out its own identity in the future.

7.5 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Aug 29, 2018

This is a breath of fresh air in the current online-focused battle royale infested games market. Strange Brigade tries to mix third-person shooting with a dose of puzzle solving and it does that with an emphasis on co-op. The design of the game is rather bland when played alone but as a co-op game, it has a strong foundation that is both chaotic and tons of fun.
