7 / 10 - I Am The Hero
Dec 4, 2018

I Am the Hero is a button-masher of a beat ‘em up that is simpler than other entries in the genre thanks to it being played on a single 2D plane instead of in a 2.5D plane as would be the case for, say, Final Fight. It does offer an interesting combo system that changes how you approach things, and having one life – unless you unlock and use an extra character – means you will need to be extra careful. Luckily the game has short levels, so when you die, you will only need to carry from the last level you reached. The game is cross-buy, so if you get the PlayStation 4 version you will also get the PlayStation Vita version at no extra cost, and the same applies the other way around.

8 / 10 - Floor Kids
Dec 3, 2018

Floor Kids is a truly fun and solid game to play, with some of the most original visuals around and an incredible soundtrack. If you're good at that kind of game though, you might find the $20 price to be a bit stiff considering you're getting around 3-4 hours of gameplay to get through all the songs. If you're into bboy stuff, turntablism or rhythm games, it's definitely one to play

I liked a lot of what I played in Omen of Sorrow. I love the new takes on the characters pulled from literature and movies, and the combat felt good, especially the bold cancel systems. The animations felt a bit stiff though, and the story mode which I was most excited for, was a letdown. But if you're looking for a new type of fighter that does something different, then you should definitely check this one out!

NAIRI: Tower of Shirin is a great game overall and a fun experience for both casual players who want something to pick up and play in short bursts, as well as for veterans of the genres it encompasses who want something to binge play it all in one evening. This is a good indie addition to any library of a visual novel or point and click adventure fan – and bonus points go to the game for being so charming, cute and adorable

It's been a long time coming, but I'm really glad the Darksiders series is back. Gunfire Games have done an incredible job of bringing back the Horsemen with what I consider the best game in the series. All I'm hoping now is that this will reflect on an even more ambitious take for Strife, the final Horseman.

Shadow of Loot Box is a serviceable homage to everything that is/can go wrong with a video game in the year 2018… and beyond.

My biggest takeaways from playing the tables are how far they have come over the years and what Zen is packing into there tables nowadays The tables are definitely more basic and simpler goals, but the tables were still really tough overall. That being said instill expect to myself jumping back into these tables regularly when playing Pinball. If you have an affinity for these old tables or are curious about then it's definitely worth checking out.

You can get each game separately for $59.99 on PlayStation 4, or you can go for the Persona Dancing: Endless Night Collection, which is what I got from Atlus for this review, and it's a bundle that is only available for PlayStation 4. For $99.99 you'll get both games, which instantly saves you $19.99, and on top of that you'll also get an exclusive collector's box featuring character art by Shigenori Soejima, codes to download the Shinjiro Aragaki and Goro Akechi playable dancer add-ons for Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight (in the Day 1 edition), as well as a most excellent bonus: a download code for Persona 4: Dancing All Night for the PS4! The game was originally released on the PS Vita, but the collection brings us a port for the PS4. You can read my review for that game right here.

Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics is a fun strategy RPG with plenty of content to play and a supernatural coat of paint thanks to the Cthulhu mythos. The mix of a world war setting and Cthulhu nightmare-inducing elements is not going to be for everyone, but if you give this slow-burner of a game a chance, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It's not setting out to reinvent the wheel, but what it does is give us a polished and streamlined take on the elements we've come to expect from the strategy RPG genre. Auroch Digital and Ripstone have done a good job in bringing this one to the PlayStation 4, and I look forward to playing it as I work on unlocking the set of trophies I'm missing for my new Platinum.

Express Raider is a game that is now over 30 years old and I have to say it definitely shows. Unlike other arcade games from the era, this one has not aged as gracefully, offering a gameplay cycle that is not as enticing as the premise would have you think. Still, it's a great arcade port on Nintendo Switch and a slice of gaming history that is worth a play or two.

Spider Solitaire F set out to do one thing: to give us a solid digital option for playing spider solitaire at home or on the go. I'm here to report that it does this perfectly. You'll be reviewing the screen to find the best way to carry on so that you can remove full sets of cards left and right, getting new cards to carry on or opening a space on the table to set down a single card or a sequence to bring you closer and closer to winning. If you're a fan of spider solitaire, then this is a good option on Nintendo Switch!

This is a very important game, not only because of the gameplay or the horror mechanics but also because of the story and message it presents about diversity, about finding yourself, about the worries that come with growing up, but more than anything, it's a message about diversity, revival, and regeneration.

8 / 10 - Speed Brawl

7 Billion Humans is aimed not only at those who have an aptitude for computer science and programming, but for any type of gamer who is curious about learning how to use functions to solve problems with clever solutions. The more you play, the better you'll get at this basic coding environment, spotting section in your code that can be optimized, lowering the overall number of steps or using other actions to complete the same goal. In the end, the game is certainly fun and, while not being as unique since the team did previously release Human Resource Machine, it does expand on the formula and scope. The funny writing and charming cartoony art style will win you over and keep you chuckling until the end. It's a polished release that I highly recommend.

The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is a must-have game on Nintendo Switch. Digital Eclipse, SNK, and NIS America have knocked this one out of the park, giving us an extended look at many of the classics that shaped up SNK during its early years. It does not feature every game, because that would require a ton of extra work and a way bigger development budget, but what is available, and what will be added on December 11, more than justify the asking price. After having a blast playing the games in this collection and marveling at the incredible museum section, I wouldn't mind seeing a second and third volume!
