LevelUp's Reviews
Despite having flaws in mission structure, the core experience of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is magnificent. For as long as you enjoy the ensemble cast of well written and believable characters in an unbelievable world and you don't care that the game barely finishes, Wolfenstein II is a game worth the time with its combination of solid and engaging combat.

Call of Duty: WWII offers an interesting but short single player campaign and a generic multiplayer component that implements a new and entertaining asymmetric objective-based mode called War. Unfortunately, the game suffers in key areas and that keeps it from being great; the audio is bland, the graphics are pretty common, and the gameplay is nothing that we haven't seen a thousand times already. Outside of the War modality, multiplayer wears thin quickly and there is not much reason to keep you playing for long.

Mario Party the Top 100 is a missed opportunity. The idea to bringing together the best of the series in a game was good but it has poorly executed with lack of motivations to return to play. The almost complete absence of the classic board game fun is an incomprehensible decision.

Even though it doesn't shake things too much, The Frozen Wilds is a worthy expansion that is fun exploring. The DLC adds a new story, several side-quests and lots of challenges that will entertain veterans and newcomers alike.

Arcade racing is what has defined Need for Speed since its creation, and Payback is not an exception to this rule. However, due unbalanced progression and the irrelevant single player campaign, this new iteration seem rather uninspired and lackluster.

There is no reason to doubt that Assassin's Creed Origins is one of the best entries on the series in recent years, important changes on combat and progression systems fit well to the game and the representation of ancient Egypt is outstanding. However the game has some of the weaknesses of past games: bugs and lack of creativity on its challenges.

We finally got a Gran Turismo on PlayStation 4, but looks like Polyphony Digital is making an experiment with the franchise. They bring to the table a great simulation engine, with graphics not as great as anybody would expect and most of the racing experience beyond an online gate. Not as good as it sounds.

Just Dance 2018 is an update to the popular Ubisoft franchise with more songs as its main attraction. The gameplay has not changed much and although we appreciate add-ons such as Kid and Double Rumble modes, you will not find new mechanics that transform the gameplay we all know.

Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters is the best game of the series outside of Japan. It's good to know that its contents are enjoyable either by beginners who start their adventure or by those who played hundreds of hours in past versions and seek challenges that fit their skills. Having said that, the game could be sold as an expansion instead of a full priced game.

Senran Kagura Peach Beach Slpash is nice and fun, with a sexual overtone that provides identity to the game but also gets in the way of the gameplay mechanics. It is clear that the game is aiming for a very specific audience but it could have achieved much more with a bit of moderation.

Every detail in Cuphead speaks of the love its creators have for perfectionism, from the beautiful visuals to the refined gameplay mechanics. The commitment of Studio MDHR goes beyond a tribute to classic 30s cartoons, it pays homage to the best platforming in videogames and feeds the hunger of those who pursue a genuine challenge.

Forza Motorsport 7 is a great addition to the franchise and with dynamic weather and couple of tweaks implemented in this version, this could be the best Forza ever. The campaign mode is fun and solid with tons and tons of hours to play with. Other great feature is that Forza Motorsport 7 can be played by everyone with the different difficulty settings, so it's not only for racing sim enthusiasts. The only downside is the long loading times between tracks.

Despite an uneven evolution on and off the pitch, FIFA 18 manages to muster enough innovation and improvements to make it a worthy iteration of the franchise with a fleshed out Journey mode, the interactive transfers, and the real motion technology as its most juicy contributions. While the unbalanced action on the pitch and some abandoned modes constitute the most glaring weaknesses.

Project Cars 2 is a great racing simulator that excels in every possible way, making it hard to play and almost impossible to master. Every victory will feel like winning a championship in real life. The only downside is that using a controller is almost impossible to play, you really need to play with a racing wheel.

NBA 2K18 remains as the best basketball game out there right now. Great gameplay, lots of modes and the online component is pretty solid. The only downside is the aggressive monetization system in the single player mode MyCareer.
