8 / 10.0 - Pikuniku
Jan 21, 2019

If you are looking for a game that will constantly have you asking yourself what you just experienced, Pikuniku may just be what you are looking for. The main story can take you anywhere from 3 - 5 hours along with nine co-operative levels, trophies to discover, and achievements to unlock. Pikuniku is a truly delightful fever-dream on two spindly legs.

In short, buy it if you're a fan of any of those things, maybe wait for a sale if you're not quite sure. But here's hoping we get a real No More Heroes next, because this just made me realize I really want that to happen.

Octahedron is definitely worth your time. It is simple yet challenging and I imagine that, just like Just Shapes & Beats, this will be in my long term rotation as I slowly edge towards that final neon cube in the sky.

9 / 10.0 - Double Cross
Jan 11, 2019

Overall, Double Cross is a great meshing of different types of gameplay styles that I love. The action and the Adventure are very good for this type of platform game. It will definitely be fun for anyone who liked Mega Man or other types of adventure platformers.

Last Year: The Nightmare is a five vs one team-based jaunt through a decimated high school playing tag with a serial killer that entertainingly evokes the feel of popular horror B-movies.

8.2 / 10.0 - Everything
Jan 9, 2019

A solid game, but not for everyone, Everything is all about exploration, curiosity, and looking to what's around the next corner. If you're not worried about scores, the big boss fight, and want a game that you can chill out with while you listen to great music, then Everything is for you.

7 / 10.0 - Coffee Crisis
Jan 8, 2019

Coffee Crisis is a fun throwback to the retro era. It takes a few new ideas, an interesting theme and simply has fun with things. If you are looking for a modern fighter with a variety of ideas you might want to look elsewhere. If you love metal and having fun just bashing face, then coffee crisis brews up a storm.

8.5 / 10.0 - Omensight
Jan 2, 2019

Omensight is a great title that suffers a bit from repetition in gameplay but makes up for it with some great combat, fun progression mechanics, excellent voice work and well-delivered story. If you're looking for a fun ARPG experience I would recommend checking out Omensight. With the game just recently finding its way to the Nintendo Switch as well as previously being available on Steam and PlayStation 4, Omensight is a fun, fast paced, story driven ARPG that has a lot to offer.

6 / 10.0 - Bladed Fury
Jan 1, 2019

Bladed Fury attempts to tell a tale from Chinese legend, but exiles itself into the realm of the unremarkable with several missteps. Combat is not terribly deep and the precision strike system is no implemented well, though the Soul Sliver system adds a unique touch to it. While the sound design encapsulates eastern inspiration, the art design struggles to find footing in one place.

Overall Flashpoint adds a good amount of content to the base game. Flashpoints can be played if you've already beat the game or as a part of the game experience as you level.

With all this packaged together, the player is presented with a well-balanced package that gives gamers a taste of what it used to be like to be called a gamer but never pushing so hard as to cause a rage quit, tip over the arcade machine and demand your quarters back.

6.5 / 10.0 - Omega Strike
Dec 24, 2018

If you’re a fan of the Wolbyware’s previous work or are a fan of platformers I think Omega Strike is definitely worth a look-in however for this writer there’s not enough to keep bringing me back to the title.

Overall, Insurgency: Sandstorm has very few bugs, improved graphical quality, a new game engine, and a large array of weapons to use in battle. Currently, it is available only on Steam but Console releases will be coming in 2019. Watch for the release dates if you are interested in something other than PC. Available for $26.99 USD and ready for war.

Overall Stellaris: Megacorp brings a fair bit of new things to the game as well as changing some of the older systems. It may take a while to get used to the change, but it should prove to lengthen the longevity of the game. The new factions add great flavor and a different way of playing. The game stuttering and sometimes freezing midgame and beyond is the biggest issue with this DLC. You may want to wait a bit for some patches on this.

With the emphasis on choice, Sundered give you the opportunity to unlock multiple endings by pursuing the paths of full rejection to full embrace of the darkness. With the extensive map sizes, fast action pace, and high difficulty, Sundered is sure to keep you exploring and fighting for your survival for 10+ hours per play through. It is a satisfying Metroidvania title to close out a year of stellar offerings within the genre.

With the remaster of The Last Remnant now released everyone can relive what they loved about the game. For me, it was a big improvement over the original due to all the bugs that were fixed. I can play the game smoothly and without issues and now on my PlayStation 4. Listed on the PlayStation Store for only $19.99 USD anyone can have a blast with the game. I loved the remaster and I hope you do too.

7 / 10.0 - BELOW
Dec 18, 2018

Below is a good game, but it could have been something great with some more attention to things that were bound to frustrate gamers from the get-go. It's a solid adventure, and a wonderfully interesting mystery. But it's not always fun to play.

9.5 / 10.0 - GRIS
Dec 13, 2018

Gris is not only beautiful, but it's also the perfect platformer for anyone who likes a challenge to be about more than reflexes or enemy slaughter. It's a thinking game, that also happens to have really good platforming at its core. It's neither too long nor too short, and worth every penny to experience the year's most beautiful visuals.
