Nexus Hub's Reviews
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an admirable start for Ember Lab's journey into gaming that still has a bit of room to improve. However, what you'll find here is a special, cute and endearing game that gives players a blast of nostalgia thanks to its retro-inspired level design and objectives.
Resurrected comes with a few quality of life changes, but not nearly enough to bring it up to par with most ARPGs in 2021.
For now, the improvements to Career mode and commentary, the incredible visuals and all the new animations and gameplay flow, FIFA 22 has a refreshing feel to it.
The new UI tweaks, slight gameplay changes, small bits of story content and more all add up to a worthwhile and wonderfully bizarre package that still proves Kojima Productions have truly crafted a game unlike any other.
The basketball gameplay is magnificent, the visuals and audio are too. Now 2K, just get rid of the overly offensive microtransactions and advertisements... please.
Life is Strange: True Colors is Deck Nine’s best work to date and I’d place it just behind the original brace of games. It’s more streamlined, has no “fail” states, and doesn’t delve quite as deeply into the supporting cast, but the story is compelling.
This is a ridiculously good JRPG that will entertain you for upward of 50 hours as you explore the breathtaking environments of Dahna. If you’re looking for an addictive JRPG to sink your teeth into, Tales of Arise comes very highly recommended.
Rally fans will find plenty of things to do across the large roster of content. Players new to the series will find the game to be a compelling pack, but those coming from WRC 9 will find very little to love.
If you're a fan of the original game, there's nothing here that will surprise you, but for newcomers, you can experience one of the better 3D Sonic games.
For fans of Arkane waiting for a Dishonored 3, this will not scratch that itch, nothing can, but it will give you a new Arkane sandbox to play in - a new universe to practice your death dealing skills in, and a terrific new mystery to lose yourself in.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is a wonder, a breathtaking escape into a beautiful world beyond the confines of your home and it couldn’t have come at a better point.
RiMS Racing has earned its place as one of the most immersive motorcycle racing games to date, with the PlayStation 5 taking this a step further thanks to the DualSense controller. While there aren’t many bikes to choose from, the unmatched level of customization and fleshed out Career Mode will give you plenty of enjoyable hours to test and upgrade your bike.
Besides the flatness of the levels and the AI/NPC issues, the game is actually enjoyable to play, especially if you are looking for a fun, brainless shooting game where all you have to do is unload bullets into creepy crawly things.
The intriguing narrative, fluid action, responsive controls, and phenomenal presentation all come together to create Supergiant Games’ finest to date.
Knockout City is a fun, wholesome game with a lot of potential in upcoming seasons. Server queues aside, I have a lot of fun with it.
I’d advise caution with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. It’s a solid title and for a hardcore Zelda fan, I’d recommend it.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is fast becoming what I want CI to concentrate on as it is far more interesting in terms of design, story, and mechanics than the mainline series.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin runs fine on the Nintendo Switch - the monsters are a highlight, and the rest of the game is okay. That’s the real problem. That’s the real shame. That’s the real missed opportunity.
F1 2021 serves up the most complete and well-rounded experience to date. Annual improvements aside, Braking Point alone would be enough for me to jump in, but the fact that Codemasters have gone to this length to provide a complete package is admirable.
A serious lack of polish and some unnecessary padding keeps it from being great, and it’s still got nothing on the criminally underrated and oft-forgotten Warhammer 40k: Space Marine – the pinnacle of action games set in that universe.
