Horizon: Zero dawn was an absolute joy to play through and I really hope Guerrilla Games decides to make this their core IP. I want to spend more time in this world even after obtaining the platinum trophy. The core gameplay loop is incredibly addictive. Hopefully a story expansion comes soon just so I can dive back into this world.

Uncharted 4 is a fantastic game, and is an absolute must play, especially if you’ve played previous games in the franchise. The pacing does go through a slow point heading into the third act but the overall story, the character performances and one of the most fulfilling closing chapters iv’e experienced in a game made this an experience I want to play through again multiple times.

7.5 / 10.0 - Valkyria Revolution
Jun 26, 2017

I enjoyed my time with Valkyria Revolution and enjoyed it’s well crafted story. While it does have some issues with iffy animations and its necessity on grinding it’s not too dissimilar from other JRPG titles. If you go into the game thinking you are getting another Chronicles game you will be disappointed. But If you are looking for a decent RPG with a semi strategic battle system and interesting characters this might be right up your alley.

8 / 10.0 - Yakuza Kiwami
Aug 23, 2017

Yakuza Kiwami is a great game. Certainly not everybody’s cup of tea, especially those that aren’t a fan of Japanese culture or media in languages other than English. But I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with Yakuza Kiwami. While not as long as other games in the Yakuza franchise, it’s great story and substories(side quests) combined with it being the perfect jumping on point for anyone looking to dive into the series for the first time make it well worth the asking price.

The Lost Legacy is a wonderful addition to the Uncharted series. It tells a well contained story that not only stands up to previous entries in the series but provides us further insight to some well loved characters from prior games and ties in well to the overall lore in the world of Uncharted. With great writing and characters, combined with interesting puzzles throughout, it is a must play game for fans of the series.

Metroid: Samus Returns is a brilliant return to form after a couple of less than stellar entries in the series in past years. It stays true to what made Metroid great in the first place and by taking an existing title, bringing it up to modern standards and adding new mechanics, MercurySteam have truly delivered an amazing game that presents a great blend between fun exploration and challenging combat. Samus Returns is a game that any Metroid fan will appreciate and can easily be enjoyed by newcomers to the series as well.

7.5 / 10.0 - Agents of Mayhem
Sep 25, 2017

Agents Of Mayhem is a highly entertaining, open world third person action game. It’s world and character design provide a unique and interesting take on the genre and combined with the animated cutscenes make for an overall enjoyable gameplay experience. It is let down by it’s repetitive mission structure and lack of online modes, but would still recommend it to any fans of Saints Row or anyone looking to experience a quirky take on the third person shooter genre.

I had a blast playing through Danganronpa V3. It's full of hilarious moments, brilliant characters and even better writing. It is slightly let down in it's first person moments and the structure of the narrative can feel a little repetitive at times. But if you're feeling like playing through a great quirky murder mystery story than I'd say you should probably give Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony a go.

If you're a fan of the South Park series, you're going to love this. It's packed full of references and Easter eggs from the show's 20+ seasons and many of the smaller references will be more meaningful to those fans. It's easy to see that Ubisoft and South Park Studio's made this game 'For the Fans' and they nailed it.

Assassin's Creed Origins is a brilliant return to form for a series that had begun to get stale over the last few of it's annualised releases. With a vibrant new setting, great characters and the introduction of RPG elements i'd recommend this as a must play for any fans of open world RPG games even if they had previously not been a fan of the AC series. Major props to Ubisoft for realising issues of the past games and taking the time to get this one right. Delivering what is arguably the best Assassin's Creed game yet.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is exactly what a great expansion pack should be. Guerrilla Games have provided a brand new experience, expanding on what they had set up in Zero Dawn and improving what was already a great game. I loved every minute of the 15 or so hours back in that world. The amount of new content, beasts and objectives left me feeling extremely satisfied by it's end.

7.5 / 10.0 - Hidden Agenda
Nov 26, 2017

Hidden Agenda is a great way to spend a night with friends, working together (or against each other) to get to the bottom of The Trapper case. It is playable solo, but it truly shines as a multiplayer experience, where other players' choices impact and sway the story in ways you wouldn't have taken it yourself. Which means playing through a second or third time could present very different choices and outcomes.

Knowledge Is Power is a great social party game that is easily accessible and really fun to play. I would suggest playing with at least 3 players to add further enjoyment and strategy to the game but can be played with as little as 2 if you and 1 other just want to enjoy a casual quiz. It's quick game time means you can play multiple games quite quickly throughout the night but would have loved if the topics weren't loaded based on prior gameplay choices.

While not the completely new game some were hoping for. Game Freak have added and refined more than I thought we would get out of a mid-gen release. The addition of new Pokemon, dimensions to explore and story segments make Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon the definitive way to experience Alola. If you haven't played Sun or Moon I would suggest picking up one of the Ultra titles instead. Even if you have, the refinements to the existing systems, the more streamlined story and the vast small changes will keep you engaged and wanting to progress through the colourful land of Alola for many hours.

Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV is a fun and rewarding VR fishing game that is bound to attract fans due to it’s Final Fantasy license. Although it has a short story mode, bugs and lengthy load screens that can momentarily take you out of the experience it still had me addicted because of how good it felt to go fishing and interact with people and creatures from Final Fantasy. Combined with it’s relaxing soundtrack, you can easily lose track of time fishing in Eos.

While the majority of the environments are lifted straight from the first game and the battles can be a tad easy, it doesn’t make the game any less fun. Hacker’s Memory is a better experience if you have played Cyber Sleuth, but don’t let it deter you if you haven’t. Hacker’s Memory is it’s own story set in the same universe. If you’re a fan of the Digimon series you should take the time to play this.

BluePoint have done an incredible job of bringing Shadow Of The Colossus to the PS4, making it accessible to a whole generation of people that didn’t get to experience the original. It runs better, performance wise here than it ever has and it’s attention to fine detail makes it one of the best looking PS4 titles to date.

My time playing Dragon Ball FighterZ is some of the best time I’ve spent playing a fighting game in years. While the story mode progression is repetitive and a bit too easy at times, the original story and the various gameplay modes on offer will have me coming back and enjoying this game for quite some time.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia is an incredibly fun, addicting and fast paced action brawler that fans of the anime series will really enjoy. If you enjoyed how the Naruto Ninja Storm or Dragon Ball Budokai games played you’ll feel right at home with this game. While it is let down by it’s visual quality at times and you may find yourself struggling with the camera during a battle it still had me returning over and over again to try and unlock that next rune to make my favourite characters even better.

I had a great time playing through The Invisible Hours. It was an interesting way to tell a murder mystery story and was done in a way where you can experience the plot twists from many different perspectives. With the initial experience being fairly short it caters to those that are only able to experience VR in short bursts but can always jump back in to experience the story from another angle.
