NASCAR Heat 5 is a modest improvement over NASCAR Heat 4 in terms of performance. And unlike last year, I did not encounter any bugs. Beyond that, though, I honestly cannot tell the difference between the two games.

I wanted to give this game a higher score because the concept is genuinely interesting, but it feels like an unfinished project. You only get a chance to scratch the surface before the story is over.

I have to commend developer AY Games too. It almost feels like they’ve taken visual cues from Darkest Dungeon, mixed them with mechanics from Slay the Spire, all while giving it their own unique spin on things. The result is a pretty solid title.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated does what it sets out to do. It's a loyal remake of an unremarkable PS2-era title.

Summer in Mara manages to instill joy. It connects you with likable characters and weaves a narrative into its gameplay loop in ways that many other similar titles do not. Ultimately, though, the simplicity of its mechanics too often turns the game into a chore.

The surprisingly compelling storyline and interesting puzzles keep you powering through, even as the dialogue drags on at times. Plus, the pixel art style and retro-inspired music give the game real charm. Considering the budget price, it’s well worth checking out.
