Doraemon: Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom is an enjoyable sequel with some great improvements, but it falls short of the franchise's full potential.
Harvestella is a Frankenstein creature of several genres with a golden heart. It's one of the year's most soothing games, with an addicting gameplay cycle and some intriguing quests.
Shadows of Rose is a solid continuation of the Resident Evil Village story, with minor flaws in its survival horror focus but some tense moments. The other new additions in the Winters' Expansion make an already terrific game even better, with a completely new third-person camera providing a distinct perspective on Resident Evil Village's scary story mode.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force has a terrific battle system, a variety of unique exploration possibilities with a lot of vertical mobility, and a solid cast of characters, but the game's pacing can be a problem, and the writing is somewhat weak.
The Diofield Chronicle has all of the components for an intriguing game, but it lacks a few key ingredients that may help it stand out.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is a dream come true for those who appreciate its value, but it lacks enough content to create a compelling purpose for someone to play through the games again.
Rune Factory 4 Special was my first introduction to this series, which combines the farming simulation elements of Harvest Moon with a traditional action RPG, and suffice it to say, I greatly like it, despite its flaws.
Boss fights continue to be the highlight of Solar Ash, and while the gaming experience isn't perfect, it's still enjoyable.
The ingredients are there for quite possibly the best Battlefield experience to date, but several inconsistent design choices hold Battlefield 2042 back from getting there, at least at launch.
House of Ashes is the best entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology. It has taken its predecessor's weaknesses and offered an overall balanced experience this time around.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles appears to be an attempt to satisfy series enthusiasts. To some extent, it is approachable and entertaining, but the story is mainly a rehash with no fresh content, and the versus mode, although enjoyable, could benefit from a broader character roster.
Far Cry 6 is more of the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you've loved the previous games in the series. However, the series must reinvent itself to remain relevant.
The quality and enjoyment level of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania are decided by how much you enjoy the series, but one thing is certain: there will be no shortage of content.
Greak: Memories of Azur is an innovative puzzle platformer that tests your wits and presence of mind by putting you in charge of more than one character, though it’s held back by some odd difficulty balancing and unsatisfying companion AI.
In terms of Metroidvania aspects, F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch shines, but the gameplay is clumsy and the plot is hard to take seriously.
The Ascent offers a surprisingly decent amount of depth and is best suited for fans of looter shooters.
Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection succeeds at what it sets out to achieve with a collection, albeit it doesn't add anything exciting.
No More Heroes 1 and 2 have aged like a fine wine. These cult-classics have found a new life with the definitive way to experience them on the Nintendo Switch.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity engaging combat system holds the experience together amidst a half-hearted attempt at a prequel.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a good remaster if you haven't played this classic WRPG, but it also shows how far the genre has advanced since 2012.
