8.2 / 10.0 - Terra Nil
Mar 27, 2023

It's a simple game, but one in which all the systems work in harmony to create a chilled-out and satisfying experience. With customizable difficulty, decent variety in levels, and a soundtrack that makes you feel like you're in a fancy spa, Terra Nil offers a relaxing opportunity to turn a bleak little square of land into a verdant paradise.

Fobia may tread familiar ground, but it does so confidently and effectively. The game manages to build tension and fear without relying too heavily on jump scares, and its excellent sound design only adds to the spook factor. Anyone who likes survival horror games should give this one a try.

8.2 / 10.0 - Infernax
Feb 14, 2022

This 2D, NES-era-inspired action platformer features rock-solid gameplay and an excellent progression system. While it definitely isn't for everyone, it's not trying to be for everyone, it's trying to be for people who like demon fetuses, platforming, and pixel art -- and it's succeeding.

8.4 / 10.0 - Boomerang X
Jul 8, 2021

While there isn't a whole heck of a lot here, what is here is tight, polished, and fun. Even if you aren't someone who usually plays first-person platformer/shoot-em-up type games, Boomerang X is a great introduction to faster or more mechanically demanding shooters.

Alone in the Dark has such a fantastic pulp horror aesthetic that it makes up for very lackluster gameplay. Stand out performances, a clear reverence for horror, and some great writing make it work. Though it might not quite be worth the price...

8.5 / 10.0 - Sunday Gold

A strong narrative and well-crafted characters more than make up for any rough edges in this slick, fast-paced point-and-click adventure/RPG hybrid.

8.5 / 10.0 - ICARUS
Mar 3, 2022

ICARUS may have debuted as a bill of goods, but it is shaping up to be an exciting survival sandbox experience. A rich RPG customization system intersects with a bevy of game modes to provide gamers with a variety of building and adventuring experiences. Consistent updates and optimizations show that ICARUS the Game completes its mission and doesn't get left stranded on Icarus the Planet.

Well-polished remakes of games from a different time in the Pokemon franchise. + Faithful recreation of the originals that draws out their best aspects + Incredibly satisfying difficulty throughout, especially for the Elite 4 - Some bizarre decisions to bring back previously removed features

A fantastic tabletop RPG in video game format, with incredibly polished gameplay + Immersive world brought to life by the game master & cards gimmicks + Interesting characters that do not conform to genre tropes & cliches - Too short at 10-15 hours & slightly too easy with no difficulty setting

Hot Wheels Unleashed has a truckload of content at launch to keep any gamer looking to collect vehicles and win races busy. While DLCs may not be everybody's cup of tea, at the end of the day it doesn't affect the way you play. Those who want to collect a few exclusive vehicles can do so, while everyone can have fun racing and winning.

Kingdom Come strived for novelty, immersive storytelling, and realistic features. It checked all of these boxes and then some. It provides a truly unique experience. Unfortunately, many of these features can become difficult to manage and can limit user experience. That said, it is a game that any fan of historical fiction needs to play and is sure to stay in their rotation for years to come

8.6 / 10.0 - The Thaumaturge
Mar 4, 2024

An excellent RPG that offers a strong narrative, true player choice, and a fresh setting and magic system. The combat can be a bit repetitive, but its interesting systems mitigate that somewhat, and the real draw here is the role playing anyway.

A brief, focused experience, Strayed Lights offers solid combat, a beautiful world, and a compelling narrative. Never before has a game with so much parrying been so wholesome.

8.7 / 10.0 - Dice Legacy
Sep 8, 2021

While it doesn't always captivate, Dice Legacy is unequivocally unique and enjoyable. It manages to capture the addictiveness of city builders, and somehow blends it with a roguelike to make something entirely new. Any fans of strategy gaming should give this one a try.

If you like Metroidvanias, and weird creepy stuff is your jam, this is the game for you. If you prefer your narratives easy to follow, and have a low tolerance for gross monsters and dying a bunch, you're better off skipping this one.

8.9 / 10.0 - Inkulinati
Jan 31, 2023

Inkulinati's tactical and strategic depth is equaled by its clever use of medieval marginalia as inspiration for both art, setting, and gameplay. Come for the exploding bean monsters and donkey butt horns, stay for the tricky turn-based combat.

Although it doesn't offer much of a challenge, you'll hardly care; traipsing through BlueTwelve's lovingly-crafted cat adventure game on four feet is a pleasure, and the game's pacing, art design, and overall look and feel make it one of the best games to come out so far this year.

8.9 / 10.0 - Chorus
Dec 3, 2021

Despite a handful of missteps, Chorus is a bold entry in the space combat genre and introduces mechanics other games would do well to imitate. Polished and fun, Chorus manages to offer a lot without ever overreaching and tells a compelling story while doing so.

8.9 / 10.0 - Going Medieval
Jul 28, 2021

There's already a lot to like, and if future updates are well handled, Going Medieval could easily become one of the best Colony Simulators out there. The survival aspects are both realistic and fun, as are the construction and resource management portions of the game.

Rogue Trader is a near-perfect encapsulation of 40k. Its dark-but-pulpy story puts you in the position to make tough choices with no right answers, its combat is a healthy mix of TTRPG and game balance, and the amount of content on display is jaw-dropping. The Emperor has blessed Owlcat Games.
