The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales ultimately ends up resembling the very games that inspired it a little too closely, settling into a proven genre formula while sacrificing the spark that had made it seem so promising.

Coffee Talk Tokyo arrives with a misleading title, ultimately delivering an experience that feels overly familiar and noticeably more superficial than its predecessors. Despite the weight of the themes it attempts to address, the narrative gives way to a less impactful form of writing, unable to reach the emotional sensitivity and depth that once defined the series. With all due respect for the team’s effort to preserve its legacy, Coffee Talk Tokyo shows that not every story is meant to continue. Sometimes, truly honouring what a saga has represented means having the courage to take new directions and recognising the right moment to bring it to a close.

It is impossible not to praise the Italian team for the work put into a title that only appears simple on the surface, while actually hiding a level of structural complexity and overall variety that exceeds expectations. However, the attractive visuals, the unique Animon and their evolutions, and the wide range of activities available are not enough to fully conceal a gameplay structure that feels overly complex. Combined with a story that struggles to truly take off, this ultimately undermines the primary purpose of a videogame: to entertain and engage the player. That said, this may simply be a matter of target audience. LumenTale is clearly aimed at younger players, who may well appreciate the many possibilities it offers, especially at its budget price point of €25. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

The contrasting sensations typical of Liminal Spaces never truly resonated with me in this title, and my disappointment in that regard is undeniable, but that does not mean another player could not feel differently. The game offers five varied experiences, albeit overly simplified ones, which may still be enough to entertain players who both enjoy exploration and have plenty of free time on their hands. However, if you are looking for true Liminal Spaces, my advice is to look elsewhere.

If I had to choose how to play the Riven remake, I’d probably stick to the traditional screen version. The VR landscapes are gorgeous, but it’s clear the game was originally designed for 2D and only later adapted to VR, with all the limitations that come with that shift. What feels acceptable on a flat screen — not being able to interact with everything — becomes less convincing in VR, where you naturally want to touch and test every object. Frequent loading breaks the immersion and even affects pacing, sometimes discouraging players from tackling certain puzzles unless absolutely necessary. Still, it remains a compelling VR experience for anyone who wants to fully step into Riven’s world and immerse themselves in one of the most charismatic puzzle adventures ever made. Recommended.

A game that, as an anime feature film, would be nothing short of wonderful. Despite losing itself in performance issues and gameplay choices, it still manages to deliver a compelling journey and ultimately succeeding in entertaining and making the player think, leading us to reflect on how much attention we truly pay to other people. Recommended, but not for everyone.

Aphelion leans heavily on cinematography and performances, but fails to modernize its dated gameplay or deliver a truly compelling story. Despite repetitive segments and uninspired level design, it still manages to entertain thanks to its more intense, survival-driven moments.

Pragmata is a joy to play. Capcom hits the mark, delivering a video game in the purest sense of the term—one that offers both challenge and fun, driven by constant variety and a fluid narrative that carries the player throughout the entire adventure. Don’t miss it.

Overall, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – Nintendo Switch™ 2 Edition is an update that fulfills its role on a technical level, but stops short of addressing the areas where it was truly needed. The increase in resolution and improved performance do little to offset a gameplay foundation that remains firmly rooted in well-worn conventions. Despite this, it remains an enjoyable experience, particularly in multiplayer and for fans of SEGA’s characters and the featured crossovers. However, it struggles to establish itself as anything more than a secondary offering within the broader arcade racing landscape.

Romeo is a Dead Man is a fairly unique title, but that does not mean it is without flaws. In fact, some of them are evident enough to potentially sap the desire to keep playing. However, if you manage to look past them, you will find yourself facing a game that, in its own way, reminds you of what a video game truly is: creative, unhinged, and capable of surprising and entertaining.

In conclusion, if you have a good command of English and are looking to dive into a mysterious new graphic novel filled with intriguing characters, Shuten Order is definitely for you. On the other hand, it almost goes without saying that if the language barrier prevents you from fully enjoying the game, you’d have every reason to look elsewhere. The lack of localization is certainly a major drawback for a title that is 99% text-based, but we hope Spike Chunsoft’s decision won't negatively impact sales.

PowerWash Simulator 2 feels like a sequel made more out of obligation than inspiration. It adds quantity but loses quality. The experience remains fundamentally the same — just more complicated, slower, and less enjoyable. Sure, the multiplayer mode is still pleasant and offers a few moments of lighthearted fun with friends, but finding people willing to buy the same game again will be a challenge in itself. A missed opportunity, and a real shame — let’s just hope that a possible third installment will finally give some real meaning to its number.

With Digimon Story: Time Stranger, Media.Vision proves it can evolve the series and make it appealing to a broader audience. The blend of Persona-inspired mechanics, a wide variety of content, strong narrative focus, and impressive visual design makes this entry a true turning point for the franchise. The turn-based combat works beautifully, the animations shine, and the action-packed cutscenes add just the right cinematic flair, marking a triumphant return for the series — one not to be missed by Digimon fans and anyone who loves well-crafted JRPGs. Nevertheless, after the inevitable hours of grinding, one can’t help but feel that the game could have stood out even more had it dared to take a few creative risks, stepping away from well-trodden paths in favor of fresher, bolder ideas.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A represents a step forward for the series, offering a fresh and, above all, entertaining experience that makes hours of gameplay fly by like minutes. The only real obstacles lie in its outdated game engine and a level design that sometimes hinders the player, undermining the overall experience and lowering the game’s value. Nevertheless, there is strong hope that this marks the new direction Game Freak intends to pursue for future titles, and that the studio will finally set aside its now overused engine to deliver a game that, both visually and technically, truly lives up to its name.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles offers new light on a thirty-year-old title, improving it with revised UI and English and Japanese voice-acting, yet once again lacking Italian localization and retaining the barrier of complexity due to approximate and generic tutorials that miss the mark. Play it if you want a challenging title with excellent storytelling set in the Final Fantasy universe, while being aware that it departs almost entirely from the main saga in almost every aspect.

The new Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection is a feast for the eyes on Switch 2, letting us enjoy both titles with a level of resolution and performance never seen before. While Switch 1 players can finally get their hands on the long-missing second game, the lucky owners of the Switch 2 are in for a real treat, thanks to 4K resolution and a silky-smooth 60 fps that deliver pure joy. An unmissable release for both longtime fans and newcomers to the series — and really, what better time to play them than now, as we await the upcoming Mario Galaxy movie?

Titanic Scion is a sequel that changes without improving, offering a semi-open world lacking in originality and falling short of the optimization standards expected on Switch 2. These shortcomings might be overlooked by mech enthusiasts and long-time fans of the series, but for everyone else they could serve as a deterrent. My advice: try the demo to get a feel for it, and don’t expect too much from the full game, or you may end up disappointed.

Baby Steps comes with several negations: it isn’t a great title, it doesn’t have superb gameplay, it doesn’t take itself seriously in the slightest, but above all it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. On the contrary, it’s perfectly aware of being a game with a dynamic soundtrack, a vast level design as big as a mountain where everything can send you back, and various completely useless elements like non-collectible hats, inevitably lost at the next fall. The greatest challenge is the one against the player themselves, who will have to put their patience and tolerance to the ultimate test in order to face an absolutely arduous experience. Recommended only for those with nerves of steel.

If you’ve never played Gears of War and want to experience the thrill, go ahead. Otherwise, we’re looking at a title that is undoubtedly iconic, but shows its age, in a version that makes little sense to exist other than to introduce the brand to the PlayStation audience, while offering very little beyond that.

For a project born from the vision of a single developer determined to bring his idea to life, in a sense, the goal has been achieved: Lost Soul Aside is indeed a lengthy and somewhat varied adventure which, while overall rather dull, can still manage to entertain for around twenty hours. However, the asking price and, above all, the PlayStation brand looming over the title inevitably create expectations that are left unfulfilled, due to a series of issues that undermine its overall quality. What remains is the regret of a missed opportunity, softened only by a combat system that, taken on its own, still manages to deliver some genuinely enjoyable moments. A real shame.
